The Band

Rice Thief doesn’t offer escape

It offers clarity — loud enough to feel.

Born in Toronto and shaped by the city's neon nights, Rice Thief creates music for those navigating the hard way. Through darkwave atmosphere, industrial rhythm, and cinematic storytelling, the band explores love, loss, temptation, identity, and the stubborn hope that survives them all.

Nova Lux

Vocals

The voice at the center of Rice Thief.
Nova Lux moves through songs like a ghost through a city at 2AM: restrained, magnetic, and emotionally dangerous. Her performances blur the line between confession and confrontation, combining darkwave melancholy with industrial intensity.

Onstage, Nova rarely breaks character. Offstage, she treats every song like a cinematic scene pulled from fractured memories, sleepless subway rides, abandoned hotel corridors, and relationships that leave permanent scars.

Influences range from post-punk noir and gothic cinema to underground industrial clubs and late-night urban isolation. Nova’s presence defines the emotional core of Rice Thief: beauty inside decay, intimacy inside distance.

Vera Ghost

Bass

The pulse beneath the collapse.
Vera Ghost’s basslines are the backbone of Rice Thief’s sound : cold, hypnotic, and relentless. Her playing anchors the band’s cinematic atmosphere while adding a raw punk aggression that keeps the music dangerous.

Known for her sleeveless black leather aesthetic and chaotic blonde hair, Vera performs with an almost confrontational intensity. She rarely speaks during shows, preferring to let distortion, feedback, and movement communicate everything.

If Nova is the storm cloud, Vera is the engine underneath it.

Bram Conway

Drums

Bram Conway approaches percussion like controlled demolition.
Drawing influence from industrial rhythms, post-punk minimalism, and alternative metal, his drumming combines mechanical precision with explosive emotional release.

Bram’s performances often feel less like traditional rock drumming and more like urban machinery collapsing in rhythm. Beneath the aggression is restraint knowing exactly when silence hits harder than impact.

He is the architectural force of Rice Thief’s sound: tension, repetition, momentum.

Ash Vale

Guitar

Ash Vale drapes melody in shadow.
Combining atmospheric guitar textures with abrasive industrial edges, Ash creates the haunted spaces Rice Thief songs live inside. Delayed feedback, distant drones, and sharp bursts of distortion all shape the band’s noir-inspired sonic identity.

Usually seen beneath a black hat and leather jacket beside towering amplifiers, Ash plays with deliberate restraint — every note chosen for atmosphere as much as melody.

His style turns subway tunnels into cathedrals and heartbreak into landscape.

Maxim

Writer / Creative Director

The architect behind the mythology.
Maxim is the principal writer and creative force behind Rice Thief’s evolving universe — shaping the band’s themes, imagery, narrative direction, and emotional identity.

Drawing inspiration from darkwave, psychological cinema, existential literature, urban isolation, and underground music culture, Maxim treats Rice Thief as more than a band: it is an ongoing cinematic world where songs, visuals, characters, and atmosphere all connect.

From subway performances and crimson hotel corridors to fractured relationships and surreal emotional landscapes, the project explores longing, transformation, temptation, identity, and survival in modern cities.

While the band often embraces mystery and anonymity, Maxim exists just beyond the curtain — not as a traditional frontman, but as the unseen voice guiding the vision.
